How many of you think of connecting two computers with one data card? Yes some people might find it impossible, but this is possible. In this technological era, you can easily connect two computers with a single data card and access fastest internet. All you need to do is to follow the instructions given below:
First of all you need a crossover cable that will help you to connect two computers through Ethernet. After connecting make sure that both the computers correspond by providing an IP address range, like 192.168.10.1 for first system and 192.168.10.2 for the other. Open the “subnet mask” field in both the computers and enter “255.255.255.0” into it and save the changes by clicking “OK”. Leave the gateway field blank for the first PC and the IP of the first PC will be the gateway for the second PC (which is to be done later). You can easily perform this task by right clicking the local area connection and then click on the status then go to properties then Internet protocol TCP/IP properties.
For checking connectivity, attempt pinging command and for this, click on the start menu of the first PC and click on “Run” and type “ping 192.168.10.2”. After performing this action, you will get a valid reply from the second PC. This action will confirm that both the computers are connected.
Connect data card to the first machine and check whether internet is working properly or not. Check the DNS of the operator for internet connection and you can easily do this by right clicking on the local area connection of the operator then click on status and then support tab for details. Here you will get some DNS addresses provided by the operator among which you have to note down any two. You can also find them by accessing command prompt and type ipconfig and you will be able to see all the DNS addresses.
After all the task is over, then go to the second PC and open local area connection and go to properties then Internet Protocol TCP/IP properties. Provide the gateway address as the IP of the first computer i.e. 192.168.10.1 (as mentioned earlier). Then provide the DNS addresses that you have noted down to the other two DNS fields. Now open any browser and enjoy surfing internet on both the computers!
